Spring: A Time of Transformation!

April 20, 2015 By Lynne

Are you looking in your closet wondering what you wore last spring? Whether you are the type to run out and shop at the first sight of a robin fluttering by your window, or someone who ignores that robin and continues to wear your winter gear, here are some spring ideas.

You probably have an inkling of what is hot for spring even if you haven’t been in a clothing store since Christmas.  I know you’ve been to the grocery store and scanned a few magazines as you stood in line at the checkout. You can’t help but notice all the floral and color on the covers, not to mention the crop tops!

Have some fun, take a chance, follow your gut, live a little… Throw caution to the wind and splurge on one or two “outside of the box” pieces, like a hot jumpsuit, flirty floral dress, or a new pointy toe shoe!

Check out the Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, or Bloomingdales websites for inspiration.

This is also the time to consider swapping out your dark jeans for white jeans, and start wearing them now. White jeans are less forgiving, but that shouldn’t stop you from wearing them. Find a pair with a bit less stretch, and they won’t pucker and pull. A blend of 98% cotton with only 2% elasticity is the way to go. A heavier material will make for a smoother fit and a longer lifespan.

If your closet is full but, you are still struggling to find something to wear in this time of transition, maybe it’s the perfect time for a closet edit.

Holiday Strategies

December 8, 2014 By Lynne

Here are some strategies to help you make it through the busy month of December:
Your storage closet needs thinning out occasionally, just as your clothes closet does. When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, only put up the things that you love. If some of your holiday decorations aren’t making you happy anymore, maybe it’s time to let them go. Give them to a charity and make someone else’s holiday season happier.

Things to do: For some fashion fun, don’t miss the Italian style exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts that runs now through January 4th.
